Samson the Whale

Yesterday
I heard about a man called Samson the Whale.
I say he's called that,
not named it
because I've never met him face to face
and only know how he's called
by the boys down at Jerry's dockside bar.
Anyway,
Samson is a boating man.
He found his boat in a Texas desert,
scooped out the dirt and sand
using only his tin mug,
and then pulled it by the anchor chain
all the way to the Gulf,
where he set it to float
and moved right in.
They say he sailed away
to God-knows-where,
and only comes back to port
once in a year,
moors a night to stock up on whiskey from Jerry's,
and shoves again when nobody's watching.
At least that's how the story goes.
I've never heard a word on how that boat
got to be in stranded in the desert.
